A Doctor’s Cure for Medical Myths

Being healthy is a choice. But people need facts, not fiction to make the right decisions.

Unfortunately, medical myths abound and once an idea takes hold, it’s tough to dislodge. The result can be deadly: patients refusing to take life-saving medicines, parents withholding vaccines from their children, heart attack victims misreading the signs.

What’s the “cure” for medical misinformation? Facts! Cold… Hard… Facts. In A Doctor’s Cure for Medical Myths, Dr. Dominic Gaziano, a primary care physician who practices in inner-city Chicago, debunks 50 of the most common medical myths by providing peer-reviewed research and well-documented facts that support the truth. He offers his “50 teaspoons of truth to remedy medical misinformation,” so the next time you hear someone spout off a medical myth, you’re armed with the truth.

Praise for A Doctor’s Cure for Medical Myths!

What a great book….I have always been a fan of health books and I must say, even I learned new information from this book. Very interesting read. I am sure most people will find several myths that they thought were true. It was a huge eye opener.

After reading this, I am going to send a copy to my parents. The generational information rang true in our family! I loved the tailored approach for every type of patient. This book also touched on some points about doctor/patient trust that made me think about how I chose my primary care physician and how I’ve been referred to specialists….I loved the demystifying of insurance process and the cost containment strategies.

I want to find a book that helps me with everything that’s relevant for my own health and the health care system, I found it it’s Well Now!
Health Insurance is so expensive and confusing, Dr. Gaziano provides some great tips and a exhaustive reference section. Finding the right doctor for your meds is difficult, Dr. G broke it down for me in an easy tips on how to select the right primary care doctor. The modern landscape of minute clinics, urgent care and emergency rooms can be confusing, Dr Gaziano shared some of insightful experiences with his patients in regard to when you should go to each. I would highly recommend this book.
